Lineage, Initiation & Oracle: Finding Your Way to Truth

Portland people! If you’re craving a break from the holiday hoo-haw, come join me. While it’s based around writing as a means to dropping in to our deeper, untold stories, it’s not a writing workshop per se. Instead, it’s an opportunity to dig our hands in the dirt of backstory and lineage. You’ll walk away feeling grounded and in deeper touch with the mystery of our lives. I’d love to see you there!

The event will feature activists, artists, educators, healing practitioners, scholars and writers whose lives and work explore these themes.

Lineage, Initiation, & Oracle: The Art of the Creative Descent

Leapfrogging off his recently published book—Death Trip: A Post-Holocaust Psychedelic Memoir—Lorinczi returns to the Alembic with filmmaker Mareesa Stertz to explore some of the book’s most provocative themes: the lack of initiation in Western culture, the fading connection with our own lineage, and the power of nonlinear modes of exploration, including creative writing, dreamwork, and psychedelic journeying. If previous events are any guide, this gathering will be a provocative and liberating exploration of the facets of family and self that so often remain shrouded. Show up ready to bask in emotionally resonant storytelling—and to share what it illuminates in your own backstory.

Can trauma be inherited…and can psychedelics help us heal it? These questions form the central core of Death Trip: A Post-Holocaust Psychedelic Memoir, by Seth Lorinczi (Spiral Path Collective, 2024). A marriage story, a search for meaning in the wake of the Holocaust, and a struggle to release the weight of ancestral trauma, Death Trip takes readers from the ayahuasca basements of Portland’s psychedelic underground to the darkest days of the Second World War.
